Now that Destiny 2 is behind us, it’s back to a more normal release schedule this week, with four new games hitting digital store shelves today.
Update: During the day, one new game and one demo have hit the Store. These titles have been added to the bottom of the list.
Maize
The first new release for today is Finish Line Games’ Maize, “a first-person adventure game about what happens when two scientists misinterpret a memo from the U.S. Government and create sentient corn.” Maize is available now for $19.99 – and for Xbox Live Gold members, there’s a launch discount, making the price $14.99.
NASCAR Heat 2
Following on from NASCAR Heat Evolution last year, 704 Games Company are adding in two additional races series with NASCAR Heat 2: NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR XFINITY Series, on top of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. The game offers 29 sanctioned tracks from ovals and road courses to the dirt track at Eldora Speedway. Game modes include the expected career and multiplayer, now with the added option of local splitscreen play. NASCAR Heat 2 is available now for $49.99, while the “Hot Pass” (read: season pass for all content releasing by year’s end) can be obtained for $29.99.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2018
Today sees the release of the new title in the long-running Pro Evo series with PES 2018. Hitting store shelves before EA’s new instalment in the FIFA series makes it first soccer game available for the new season. This year sees an expanded partnership between Pro Evo developers Konami and Spanish side FC Barcelona, with both a standard edition ($59.99) and the “FC Barcelona Edition Bundle” ($69.99) available today.

NHL 18
The last new release for the day is EA Sports NHL 18… sort of. The standard/base version of EA’s latest instalment in the hockey series does not release until Friday, but as of today the Young Stars Edition (and its deluxe counterpart) are both available digitally with several days’ early access to the game. The NHL 18 Young Stars Edition is up on sale for $79.99, while the Young Stars Deluxe Edition, featuring some extra Hockey Ultimate Team goodies, is $99.99. EA Access subscribers get a 10% discount on the price of both, plus a 10-hour trial of the game before purchasing as part of the subscription.
Additional titles:
Planet of the Eyes
Planet of the Eyes is a puzzle-platformer from developers Cococucumber, for which we have a review here. The player takes control of a lone robot for this game’s adventure. Planet of the Eyes is now available for $9.99, with a time-limited 20% launch discount making it $7.99. Our review rated it “Limited Appeal”.
FIFA 18: Demo
The last release of the day (provided there are no further late additions) is not a full game, but notable nonetheless. On the day when the new Pro Evo has come out, EA has published the demo for its own soccer title, FIFA 18. The demo is free to download and available right now.
