Stoic’s The Banner Saga is finally about to arrive on Xbox One — but not until next year. The strategy RPG will arrive on Microsoft’s console on January 12, 2016.

After releasing it on PC in 2014, publisher Versus Evil announced 2015 Xbox One and PlayStation 4 ports of The Banner Saga just over one year ago. With 2016 just around the corner now, it comes as no surprise that the console versions won’t hit its initial target window.

“We have been working on porting Banner Saga to consoles for some time,” said Stoic Founder and Technical Director John Watson in a prepared statement. “Porting the game certainly presented technical challenges that we needed to overcome, and gave us an opportunity to redesign the user experience for console controllers. We have managed to merge the story and gameplay from Banner Saga with a refined controller interface to make it a very enjoyable console gaming experience.”

A sequel is also planned for 2016. Versus Evil previously stated that the follow-up would come to Xbox One and PS4 in addition to PC.
