Newsbits: October 22 – Microsoft giveth and taketh away
- Microsoft continues to reward their customers for their loyalty. A few weeks ago Microsoft announced that they will be offering discounts for their gamer score. This time around, the company announced that they will be offering 300 MSP back to Xbox Live Gold members who purchase 2000 MSP worth of Halloween or horror themed items, including DLC for Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil 5, and The Walking Dead. Xbox Live Gold members will need to sign up for Xbox Live Rewards to be eligible. Also any horror movies purchased will count towards the purchases. Points will be deposited back into your account by November 15.
- If you received the latest Autumn 2012 dashboard update, you may have noticed that something was missing. Facebook and Twitter apps have been removed from Xbox Live App page. According to The Verge, multiple Microsoft sources said the apps were removed to encourage the use of the new Internet Explorer browser. While some users have still not received the update, it is expected that all users will get pushed the update October 23.
- Recently, Zen Studios had released a Zombie themed table for their game Plants vs. Zombies Pinball. This week, Zen announced via their blog that they will hold a Plants vs. Zombies pinball tournament. The tournament will be held October 26-November 2. Prizes will be rewarded to the top 3 high scores during the tournament and prizes will range from codes for Zen Pinball 2/Pinball FX2 DLC to a pair of awesome looking Zen Studios slippers.
- Team Meat, the creators of the popular game Super Meat Boy, announced that they are working on a new game entitled Mew-Genics. While not many details about the game have been disclosed, Team Meat did offer a few tidbits about the project. “We don’t want to spoil too much, but we can say the game will be randomly generated, strange and involve cats.” It is not yet known which platforms that the game will be released.
