Limbo developer buys itself from investors
While working on the well-received Limbo, developer Playdead Studios got help from some private investors to expand their original idea from a free PC game to the game we know and love. Yesterday they revealed that they have purchased back their company from the investors, regaining creative and financial control. This is big news for the small developer, who says they were able to complete the purchase because of the success of Limbo on XBLA and PC. Playdead has begun development on another title, and this move will give them the ability to build the game without relying on outside help or input.
