Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, the 80’s inspired spin-off to the Far Cry franchise, took us all by surprise when it released earlier this month. The game that began as an April Fool’s joke is already a critical and commercial success. In an interview with Major Nelson, Sergeant Rex “Power” Colt’s voice actor Michael Biehn stated creative director Dean Evans is already in discussions for a sequel.

“Dean called me last night, he was pretty jacked up… He was going into a meeting today to, you know, I think he wants to turn it into some sort of franchise. He’s got a sequel in mind.”

Biehn continues to say that Evans’ vision of the franchise goes beyond another game:

“He has so many ideas coming out of his head that he can hardly contain them… He can be talking about the video game, the sequel, the sequel to that, and immediately move into movies — and start talking about movies he wants to do and different timelines on the movie he wants to do.”

Ubisoft was unable to comment on the possibility of a Blood Dragon sequel, so we’re left to wonder where the franchise will go. Youtube user MikeDiva is already ahead of the game, having created his vision of a Blood Dragon movie in the fake trailer above. He highlighted the best aspects of the game and re-imagined them as an 80’s action sci-fi that you have to see to believe. Warning: contains large amounts of awesome.
