Every quarter, Metacritic reports on the top 25 games of each platform as dictated by their Metascore system. They also compile a list of the best rated games of the year thus far, noting the new entries in updates subsequent to the first. These last three months have been a real boon to the Xbox Live Arcade platform, with a solid showing of five new titles and nine total titles out of the full list of 25 for the Xbox 360 on the whole. These numbers prove yet again that XBLA games are not only great games in their own right, but compete with retail games handily in a measure of quality.

Last week saw three releases, not all of them great. Strania and Rush ‘N Attack are try it games at best but everyone is quite taken by Islands of Wakfu. It’s something a little different from the norm on XBLA.
The Dishwasher: Vampire Smile is out this week (review’s up here) and Todd has played a lot of it. Needless to say he’s pretty in love with the game and sings its praises for awhile, even grunts some praise too.

The staff behind XBLA Fans has been working extra hard the past few weeks as we prepared for BRAWLER WEEK! We created this special event to explore everything we love about this bloody beat ’em up genre. The week is chock full of reviews, interviews, features, contests, and prizes.
