Joe Danger: The Movie videos with snowmobile and bicycle chases

By  •  March 5, 2012

Joe Danger: Special Edition is probably one of the best motorcycle games on XBLA aside from Trials HD and while we’re getting Trials Evolution in the spring, summer is looking like big movie month and Joe Danger: The Movie is premiering shortly after from Hello Games. In the first developer commentary, we see Joe on a snowmobile escaping from missiles being shot at him from a helicopter. You’ll have to land on certain areas to dodge missiles and the hop technique will be your ultimate friend here. In the second commentary after the jump, Joe is a policeman going after a robber but he has commandeered a kid’s bicycle since his license has been revoked. You’ll have to race through busy streets while throwing newspapers at the perp in order to catch him. Joe Danger: The Movie is looking like a crazy sequel that adds more to the already great formula with the same track creation and multiplayer from the original with new movie focused scenes. Look for Joe on the red carpet for its release in the summer.

XBLA Fans Monthly Roundup (December 2011)

By  •  January 6, 2012

Didn’t think we’d keep this going? Too much work? Too much copy paste? No such thing! The XBLA Fans Monthly Roundup is back again this time displaying a clear love for features! December was a month of features as we all tackled new ideas, new plans and executed them (hopefully flawlessly). Witness the beginning of the Friday Top Five, a top five list of things pertaining to one awesome thing (because why not?), and the XBLA Primer, a nifty batch of background history on a developer’s XBLA history as well as a list of their games. Hopefully these features will be well liked as we have plans to permeate the rest of the new year with them as well as our other veteran features.

Lastly, don’t forget to check out our Game of the Year awards listed in the Features section!

XBLAFans 2011 Game of the Year awards

By  •  December 22, 2011

2010 was a pretty great year for XBLA games. It’s hard to think it could be topped. Yet here we are at the end of 2011 with a crop of games that are arguably even better than last year. XBLA has continued to grow throughout 2011 and the diversity of games continues to rise.

We saw the year kick off with unique games like ilomilo, zeit2, and Stacking and it ends with impressive titles like Dungeon Defenders, Joe Danger: Special Edition and Trine 2. We’ve come a long way since the days of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved.

As a result this year’s XBLAFans Game of the Year awards were even more hotly contested than last year, with a few of the categories coming down to just a couple of votes. The list of nominees for the grand prize was almost excessive and could easily have gone into double digits. So without further ado, we are proud to present the second annual XBLAFans Game of the Year awards. Read More

Joe Danger: Special Edition review (XBLA)

By  •  December 14, 2011

Joe Danger: Special Edition was developed by Hello Games and published by Microsoft. It was released on December 14, 2011 for 1200 MSP. A copy was provided for review purposes.

We saw many great XBLA titles come out last year, but there are always a few titles that get away from us on other medium. From the Pixeljunk series to Fat Princess, PSN has its share of great downloadable games. But one that stuck out the most and you couldn’t blame XBLA for being jealous of was Joe Danger. Now, a year after its release, Xbox 360 owners will finally see that lovable daredevil with Joe Danger: Special Edition.

Protagonist Joe Danger has experienced a rise and fall to his daredevil popularity. Realizing he must get back in the game, he straps on his cape and helmet and straddles his motorcycle again. Fans of Trials HD and Excitebike should take note as the game plays in the style of both classic motorcycle games. But what it represents with its influences, it completely shatters both games in terms of charm, replay value and overall fun.
